Xochicalco (pronounced "So she call co") is the name given to a wide-spread ancient ruin site 25 miles SW of Cuernavaca. It thrived mainly from around 650-1200 AD, and then gradually grown over and hidden. In the early 20th century it was rediscovered but only recently was most of the site excavated and prepared for display. There are several buildings that are still buried. This photo shows a organized sport field with viewing areas along the sides.
