Warren & Patty's

trip to Mexico

by Warren Park

Getting to the bell tower was quite a trek involving a whole series of strange very old passage ways and obscure doors. At one point in the hike to the tower I had to climb over a 40-foot stretch of rounded roof, with only a few foot holds to use. This five-foot-tall doorway, built in the 1500's, is the only way to get to the bell tower. It leads to a very small and narrow steep staircase that calls for one to duck the whole time. I took about five minutes to get to the first level of bells from here.
