Slide Show Load Time Warning for Modem Users

If you are connected to the Internet through a modem and phone line, your "up front" wait before you can view a slide show will be much longer than that experienced by an ethernet user. When you click on one of the slide show image buttons (other than "Families & Friends") be prepared for a delay of several minutes while the photos in a gallery load for the first time. The load time will depend on the number of photos in the gallery (given at the end of the gallery title), the speed of your modem and traffic on the Internet. However, once the photos are loaded you will be able to move forward and backward through them much more quickly than is possible in Internet galleries using the traditional one-at-a-time approach, provided that your browser is not too old to understand the Javascript which controls the slide show buttons.

The galleries with 20 or more photos all provide options for modem users other than loading the full gallery. When the slide show image button for one of these galleries is clicked a red options screen will appear which either allows the modem user to load the gallery in parts, or allows the loading of a page of miniature photos from which the user can select individual photos to blow up to full size by clicking on them.
