Dear Robert.

We were pleased to hear from you and learn what you are doing and thinking. It is heartening to know that you are thinking so deeply and seriously of the power of love in lives of men. It is of course the heart of Christianity and a manifestation of God in the hearts of men. Some day you will also know that the love of individuals for each other and the love of parents for children and the constant sacrifice and giving which goes with it are also closely related evidences of the love of God.

I am enclosing a speech of mine which may bear some study. The mimeographed one is sketchy at the last but is more fully developed in the printed part "The Aged are People."

Jim and Warren are at church this evening. Warren is giving the prayer in the sanctuary tonight. He spent quite a lot of time preparing it and we expect it will be quite good and sincere but he did not share it with us. We always share our letters from you and Betty & Douglas with the boys as you know but they do not share letters to them with us unless we specifically ask. As yet we don't know what was in Jim's letter from you.

P.S. We enjoy your letters. I've spared you from any of mine, since the last time I wrote to Midland your reply was something to the effect - so many words and so little to say.   Mom.
